This hair recipe was pulled out of the annals of time, dusted off and embellished a little. I can vaguely recall using cocoa butter hair lotion when I was very young. My mother got a couple blocks (literally blocks) of the stuff from England and she was determined to not throw them away. I bathed in it, used it as moisturizer for skin and hair. I can recall hating the smell at the time and feeling very hard done by a mother determined to ‘waste not want not’. Today I …

When I first tried this I borrowed the recipe from the back of a commercial preparation and then tweaked it to suit my hair. My hair loved it. Please note that vegetable glycerin is used somewhat sparingly, too much and the recipe can get sticky.
1 Tbsp vegetable glycerin
1 ½ cup filtered water
3 tsp. lavender oil
5 drops rosemary oil
5 drops vitamin E oil
Put all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake together. Spray on hair daily or as needed. You can seal with your favourite carrier oil after (coconut, olive, …

2 cups water
½ cup moisturizing conditioner (choose your favorite)
4 drops of your favorite essential oil (optional)
Mix together all the ingredients in a spray bottle. Spray as often as hair needs to be refreshed. This recipe works very well if you want to do curly hairstyles. Seal after moisturizing with your favorite carrier oil (castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil).
Please note that I have not added any oils to this basic mixture. I find that my hair does better with the moisturizing then sealing sequence, instead …
