Typical Hair Regimen for Dry Hair
Shampoo: Use a gentle shampoo without added harsh chemicals for the hair. Practice pre-shampooing, maybe overnight before the day that you wash your hair.
Condition: Always use a penetrative deep conditioner. Make enough time at least 1 hour after shampooing to allow the conditioner to penetrate the hair shaft or go under a hood dryer for 15 minutes on low heat.
Deep Condition: You can make your own products or use products that contain no alcohol or synthetic fragrance. ORS Hair Mayonnaise and Black Castor Oil Protein Conditioner. It contains black castor oil, cactus oil, pimento oil, mayonnaise, apple cider and other hair friendly ingredients.
Hair Styles: Wear styles that protect the ends of the hair. For natural hair, wear styles where the ends of the hair are not open to the elements. The same thing applies for relaxed hair. Until the problem of dryness is addressed, protective styles are best.
Products: Jamaica Black Castor Oil Moisturizing Shampoo and the Jamaican Black Family of Products or you can use contents from your kitchen cupboard.
Hair Moisturizer: Any water based moisturizer is good enough to use. ORS Carrot Oil is recommended.
Oils: Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Peppermint Oil, Lavender Oil and Eucalyptus Oil. Or a combination of any three for your hot oil treatments and general hair sealing.
Must Have Products For Dry Hair: Conditioner, Apple Cider Vinegar and Coconut and Olive Oils.
Hair Relaxer: Affirm or any relaxer with added conditioners.
Products on the Black List for Dry Hair: Any product that contains alcohol, any shampoo that contains harsh chemicals, and any hair oil that contains petroleum/petrolatum or mineral oil, synthetic hair dyes.
